Monday

My blog got comment-spammed, so I’ve locked it down now, you have to have a previously accepted comment and be signed-in to comment now. It did mean deleting the legitimate comments, but there have only been two or three so far anyway. My ADSL is going incredibly slow. I was quite busy at work today, writing a Korne shell script to make administering the MySQL database a bit easier, I even added a couple of new features to the CMS that were requested before we go into final testing.

Weekend

I’m back from Brighton, only took about 2h15m on the way back, thanks to some idiot truck driver it took 6 hours on the way there – they shut five junctions on the M25 and redirected traffic through Kingston on the M3/A3. I got to Nanny’s at 8:30pm, having left work at 2:30pm! Saturday I took Nanny & Joyce for a drive down to Lewes where we sat by the river, walked through the old town and went to a nice little pub which was supplied by the brewery next door.

Thursday

I’m off to Brighton for the weekend after work tomorrow. It will be nice to have some company, sea air and to be out of bloody Gloucester! Not looking forward to the drive in 30c temps though! It’s 25c or something here today – hotter than France at the moment. I sent my hard disk back today, it should get there tomorrow, so I should get it replaced easily before I return to France.

666

It’s 6/6/06 today – birthday of the Beast 😉 I think one of Solo’s hard disks is on it’s way out. Not great as I’ve only had it a year. The problem is, it’s very hard to tell which one it is, as it’s very intermittent and as the two drives are LVM’d together, it’s hard to tell which disk holds any corrupted files. At one point the computer booted without showing disk 1 (so maybe power problems?

Widgets

Just added an entries calendar to the sidebar of the blog, it looks and works better than the archive links. It makes use of the Widgets plugin. One thing I don’t like about WordPress is that when you install a new plugin, there’s always a lot of code hacking to do to get the layout how you want it. The plugins don’t have enough configuration options and don’t use a global CSS file.
