Busy Thursday

Dad & I have almost finished clearing out the rubble from the first floor in the shell nextdoor. Then we’ve got to hire someone to help even out the beams and lay the floorboards before I buy a couple of staircases and finish painiting the walls. Its going to be really exciting once the flooring is done as the games room will be taking shape.

Mum & I cleaned inside my car today as it’s been getting very dirty with our tip-runs; it looks like new now though.

Sunny days

We’ve got some good weather ahead for a few days, it’s bloody hot today already at 10am! I’ll be going over to M&D’s to clean the pool later!

We’re all going out for lunch today, then everyone’s coming over to my place to watch the fireworks tonight.

Yesterday M&D and I went shopping for a few bits’n’bobs and ended up being out for five hours, doesn’t time fly here?!

The blog and other the-jedi.co.uk websites have been offline for a couple of days as I moved my DNS from my old virtual server to my domain registrar Easily, what a mistake-a-to-make-a! They have no concept of CNAME’s, so everything’s an ANAME, plus you have to send endless Emails to get them to put the DNS in place as their online control panel is so basic. And the TTL is set to three days or something stupid so propagation is a joke.

Weekend

I’m itching a bit from the sunburn from going to the racing yesterday. It was very good – with GT (Dodge Viper, Porsche 911, Ferrari, Aston Martin and some Corvettes), Clio and some weird “green diesel” cars. It was a nice drive too, and we saw some bloke bungie jumping off a viaduct. We came home and jumped in the pool.

I sorted out my crates in the loft today, I’ve found that a). I have a lot of ethernet cables, and b). I stockpile a load of old crap, in fact about two crates full of it!

Friday

I got my printer/scanner working today and I got my new laser printer working too – it’s got a very nice output quality, although build-wise it looks a big budget, it even has a Linux admin program, although I just use the CUPS web frontend. I’ve got it shared to my desktop machine from my fileserver – it seems you need to add the ServerName directive to /etc/cups/clients.conf now, which I’m sure I’ve not done previously, usually other Linux machines just see published printers, and you can share them to Windows using Samba.

Back in France

I’m enjoying being back home in France. I’ve mostly unpacked now, I’ve got to sort out my loft sometime.

Clio and Brandy the cats have been entertaining – Brandy has been following me around like a shadow and perching on my shoulder. Clio pops in through the catflap every now and then.

Mum & Dad came over today to help me do some gardening and I cooked pizza and chips (well Mum did most of it!) then Pip & Jacques came over. We’ve been playing swingball at M&D’s house. Dad’s got a virus. The weather’s not great, although it picked up a bit today, so I might brave cleaning the pool tomorrow.
