Sunday

Gonna take the car to one of the local exhaust people tomorrow, there’s Woodbridge Tyre & Exhaust near work so I could leave the car there all day and walk up towards Tesco to pick it up, better than having it fall off half way across France.

I just got a couple of coupon codes for blank DVD’s from SVP so got 150 blank top-quality 16x DVD+R YUDEN000T03’s for about 30ukp, as those TuffDisc’s are obviously a bit crap…..

Saturday

I finally got my hair cut – I had to wait an hour as there were loads of people there, including one couple whose whole life seemed to revolve around their mobile phones – how much battery life they had, what startup sounds, how many SMS’s they sent that week……

I got some 15w40 engine oil and wiper fluid, filled that up and the water, pumped up the tyres, they were all fine except the front passenger side one, which was at about 20psi instead of 30. I’ve got a little hole in my exhaust under the rear driver’s side at a welding joint I think, have to ask Phil to patch it up before the Controle Technique, probably only needs a bit of solder or spot weld.

Mum's birthday

Today is Mum’s birthday, I had a nice long chat with her on the phone. The weather’s lovely and they went out for a shopping trip and Chinese.

Work was busier today, had a few calls to do and stuff, signed and sent off my new contract.

I got my new Netra AC200, the good news is that it came with two 18.2Gb SCSI drives, so the one from the ST-D130 can replace the dodgey one in the T1-105.

New server

I’m writing this on our freshly-colocated Netra.

Phil and I are busy migrating our websites over, I’ve done the gallery and now my blog, gotta change the DNS over when I’ve done a thorough check.

We’ve got to sort out some routing issues too.

Update: I just bought an AC200 from ebay, so can use that as a development/backup server, as there’s a few things I need compiling (Perl modules etc.) and we don’t want a GNU toolchain on the production server!

Netra almost finished

Phil’s been jumpstarting the Netra, he’s 99% automated everything including add/removing software, patching, setting up RAID, turning off crappy services like rsh, all we’ve got to do is copy our websites across and eventually migrate our domains. It doesn’t look like I’ll be taking it to Redbus this weekend though as the colo people haven’t got back to us yet.

I’ve been scrounging spares from people – ethernet cable, console adaptors, rack screws, IEC leads….
