I’ve been exploring Ipswich a bit today, nothing particulary new, it’s just like Gloucester I guess, a bit more spread out, but the same shops – I even found Wilkinsons! Doesn’t seem to be a WHSmiths though, which means you can’t get the free DVD’s in the newspapers.
The parking situation wasn’t bad at all – there’s two NCP’s by the shops at about a pound an hour, so not worth doing the park’n’ride crap.
Just been looking for a cheap hard drive for my Windows PC as it died the day before I left France, but I’ve decided to rehash the two PC’s at home instead.
The older 1.4GHz/512Mb box that is causing me grief getting the PVR250 working with it’s VIA chipset will get XP Pro SP2 with just the one 160Gb SATA drive, as I hardly ever use Windows these days. I’ll put that in the beige fulltower case.
Been a while since I posted. I’m now settled in the UK until late January at least. We’re trying to sort out getting home to France for Xmas – well getting back to the UK is going to be the problem really.
I’m renting a loft in Ipswich, very self-sufficient and the landlord is an Indian pyschologist, so easy enough to get on with, quiet and likes curries!
On the way to work this morning a woman in a huge 4×4 cut me up and hit my passenger wheel arch, not too much damage it seems, so hopefully we don’t have to get insurance involved, Phil can probably hammer the dent out for me, and her behemoth wasn’t damaged.
Been doing lots of packing today, still got to pack the PC, printer and XBox, can’t do that until I know that I don’t need to print any more contract stuff. Clothes are pretty much packed. I tidied the car a bit and have been through my emergency kit (spare bulbs, water etc,) and have checked the oil and water.
I’ve been emptying the cupboards as well, so Mum’s going to get a big food parcel, mostly of stuff she gave me when I got here four months ago!
I updated Solo to the 2.6.18 kernel today, it seems better than the last of the 2.6.17 kernels for FC5. Also installed the beta Nvidia driver.
Fedora Core 6 will be released on Tuesday 24th – the day I start work.
