Slow Friday

I’ve added some new categories to this blog, to make it easier to find old posts. Namely Xbox and Movies.

Work was pretty slow today, there weren’t many people in the office as a lot are taking long Bank Holiday weekends. We’ve been getting messed about a bit with timesheet procedures lately. Only a month to go now.

I phoned Mum and had a chat, Pip was yelling in the background what shopping she wanted and what was getting delivered to me.

Weekend

Yesterday I went into town and got my bank stuff sorted – well kind of, my online banking now works but the debit card is going to take 3 months, now I’ve changed my address, so I’ll have to get my mail forwarded. I looked into HSBC’s new Euro account but it’s 13ukp a month fees.

I got my hair cut – a grade two. Didn’t go to Brantano to look for sandals though, went to the pub for lunch and got a 20oz steak, ended up having most of it for supper though.

Friday

I’ve got “The Cold” coming, I can feel the beginnings of one Hell of a sore throat. Must be coming out in sympathy with the folks and Pip.

Work was busy-ish today, Monday we’ve got some new kit to hack. Tuesday I’ve got to be on the road to Birmingham with the boss by 6:45am, so I think I’ll be taking a half day or something Wednesday.

Just watched Lost 3.21, which has to be the best episode in at least this series, what a cliffhanger, I hope it’s not the end of the series and we have to wait a year!

Wednesday

Just upgraded the blog to WordPress 2.2, it seems to have made a lot of the 3rd-party plugins part of the default install now – like backup and widgets.

I was looking at the new MacBook’s today, it seems they’re still a bit proprietary and not quite a regular x86 laptop, as Linux has various issues running on them – mainly down to the weird keyboard, one-button mouse and EFI instead of a proper BIOS, which also seems to effect the screen and bootloader.

Tuesday?!

I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday, I keep thinking it’s Wednesday or Thursday.

I’ve just had a Bishop’s Finger dark ale, which was really nice, and the Wychwood Hobgoblin isn’t bad either.

I’ve spent most of today trying to hack the Sun server again, I still can’t do it even with various combinations of rollover cable, straight RJ45, DB9 and DB25 adaptors. I even tried Hydra on the RSC prompt, but it was going to take about six months to get through my wordlist! It seems Debian 4 for Sparc is not a full distro, or at least it’s only partially 64-Bit, so no advantage over x86_64 I guess.
