Friday

I learned about Solaris 10’s logadm today, after installing logrotate and getting it configured! A single logadm command sets up the config file and runs from cron! I remembered last night that the hard disk I was going to put in my new enclosure is in France – doh! I got the enclosure today, it looks pretty cool. I just watched Lost S3E19, it’s really still pretty slow at this point, but it’s looking like they’re possibly dead and in limbo, or some drug-induced Matrix-esque VR world.

Thursday

Those people didn’t buy the Clio, so it’s got a sign on it by the side of the road now 🙁 I’ve bought a Newlink USB2+eSATA enclosure along with a SATA-to-eSATA cable and a internal-to-external SATA blanking plate, so I can use my existing SATA controller with the new eSATA enclosure. I upgraded to VMWare Server 1.0.3 at the same time as the new FC5 kernel 2.6.20-something, which has just been EOL’d, so definitely going to have to upgrade to Fedora7 when I get back to France.

Wednesday

I watched The Holiday last night, it was pretty good, but would have been better if it was more Kate Winslet/Jack Black than Cameron Diaz/Jude Law. It was a bit long too. I just watched 300, it was a bit story-less, i.e. just fighting, but not bad. Dad’s back in France safely, and someone might be going to buy the Clio tomorrow too. I’m looking at one of these JouJye external HDD enclosures.

Update

I haven’t been bothered to write in my blog for a while, so thought I’d do a quick update. The new car is going well, I drove it to Stansted and back to get Dad from the airport and Brighton and back to see Nanny and still have about half a tank left! Dad flew over to pick up the Clio and drive it back to France. I got a call today that he couldn’t get it started – that bloody cable again, but he couldn’t open the bonnet to get to it, so got a tow or something.

Weekend

Saturday I went car hunting around Ipswich and Colchester and ended up buying a 2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0 HDI with towbar from a dealership, as it comes with warranty etc. for a year (which is extendable). It’s only done 22,000 miles, so less than a 2 year old car would do even. I’m getting it on Wednesday. Not done much Sunday other than organise Dad coming over to take the Clio back on his birthday weekend – Mum booked the flight and I’ve ammended the parked ferry ticket I had from before – no charge either, so that was handy.
